Vibration Monitoring Systems
The Castle range of vibration monitoring devices includes meters and accelerometers which can be fixed permanently to equipment to constantly monitor the current working state.
Fixed Systems
Accelerometers are fixed to various points on machine components to monitor for axial and radial vibration. As the positioning of these sensors is critical to the monitoring process, Castle will provide this as a service to ensure effective operation of the system.
Once the network is in place, the accelerometers are connected to a central switching box or to a junction box and automatic switching unit (multi-plexer).
This allows the vibration levels to be monitored either by a handheld instrument such as the Castle Excieo vibration meter via a PC based monitoring system with software for analysis and conditional alarms.
System of this nature can be configured for any size of operation and can be as simple or complex as required. The benefit of these systems is in the fact that they can permanently monitor the vibration levels so any changes that occur are picked up without delay allowing maintenance to be planned in for quite production times!
Vibration Tracking and Logging Systems
If an application requires the entire machine to move around such as the cranes found in warehouses, then a different approach is required. There are also situations that require the vibration monitoring equipment to travel with the item, such as in the transportation of sensitive or valuable equipment.
In both of these cases, the use of battery operated loggers such as the Castle vibetracker or Shocktracker is the best way of achieving the desired level of monitoring. These devices are attached to the source and will data-log the vibration levels for a given period of time. This data is then downloaded into a laptop or PC for analysis later. The units can then be re-charged and put back into use for the next task!
The key is to know what is happening to equipment and machinery and to be in a position to act on the information in a timely manner to prevent cost- and time-consuming failures.
